Spring is approaching and with it, every time we want to get out of the bike and go rolling to the horizon. But before loading it and leaving, we must make sure that everything is in perfect order and that the motorcycle's systems are working at 100%.

These are the points that you should review before leaving:

Suitable equipment

According to the climate you will face, you should take precautions with respect to your equipment, since if you wear winter equipment to hot climates, you may suffer a heat stroke. Remember that the mandatory equipment for riding a motorcycle on the road is:

Certified helmet

Jacket with protections

Gloves

Boots

We also recommend wearing pants with protection and a collar.

Tools

One of the most uncomfortable situations on a motorcycle can be a breakdown, so we recommend that you make sure you have: a tool case, a can to inflate the tire, one or two spark plugs, depending on your motorcycle, a whip, and a couple of fuses.

In addition to this, you must include lubricating oil and if your motorcycle requires it, antifreeze and brake fluid . You don't need to be able to completely change the oil , but a liter of motorcycle oil, a liter of antifreeze,  and a container of motorcycle brake fluid are always a good precaution.

If you service your motorcycle on a regular basis, you shouldn't have trouble with the levels, but it can happen. Also, a broken hose will stop you on your way, so an inspection of these three motorcycle fluids is essential on your trip.

Suspension

The suspension of your motorcycle varies significantly when you are on the street, on the way to work, compared to when you travel on the road, with luggage and another person behind you. That is why, if possible, adjusting the stiffness of the suspension will be useful to make handling your motorcycle as friendly as possible.

Motorcycle Suspension

Adjust the shock absorber on your motorcycle before riding.

The moment we stiffen the rear shock of the motorcycle, the added weight of the luggage will not compress it as much, so the front wheel will not lose as much contact with the ground and the ride will be almost normal.

Review maintenance items

In addition to checking the levels of the motorcycle, there are other critical elements for its proper functioning, which most people only check when they maintain the motorcycle and it should be customary to check them more often.

The most important elements to consider are:

Check the chain or band; if necessary, grease the chain.

Check the spark plugs

Check that the battery fluid is at the optimum level. If not, fill it out

Check, clean or replace air filters

Checking these elements before leaving should not replace regular motorcycle maintenance.

Lubricate whips

One of the most common problems on motorcycles is when the whips break. To avoid this, or at least extend their life, they must be lubricated. It is an extremely simple procedure and 2 elements are required that every motorcyclist has on hand:

Loose all Cleaning cloth

Using the straw that comes in the loosener, the one that is so easily lost, point towards the inside of the plastic of the whip and, with the cloth at the bottom to avoid spills, spray a generous amount. Once you're done, start activating the lever (clutch, handbrake, or footbrake) over and over to cover the entire area.

Headlights

Once you have checked that all the lights are working properly, you should also take a few minutes to align the headlight of your motorcycle, if it allows it. This is because if you are going to travel at night, it will be an extremely essential security element.

Tire pressure

Do not forget to check the pressure, and adjust each tire according to the manufacturer's recommendations, both for the tire and the motorcycle. This way we will not suffer a painful accident with a low or flat tire.

Once you have reviewed all these elements, there is no need to go for a walk to make sure that all the elements are in perfect condition and you can enjoy your motorcycle trip.
