We all know what we mean when we talk about motorcycles, but do we know exactly how many types are on the market?

You might think that one classification would be road bikes and scooters. But there is a diversity of classes that goes beyond those discussed. Today we will take a walk through the number of different styles of motorcycles that currently exist on the market.

Most popular types of motorcycles

CYCLOMOTORS

According to the General Vehicle Regulations, the moped is not considered a motor vehicle, it cannot exceed 45 km / h and its cylinder capacity is 50 cc. They can be used with a driver's license from the age of 15, although only those over 18 can carry a passenger.

SCOOTER

The scooter is a type of motorcycle with a body that protects from the elements and offers much more versatility than a traditional motorcycle. They are lighter vehicles, designed for the city and the best thing, we forget to change gears. The 125 cc can only be driven with the car license. From 250 cc it is necessary to get the motorcycle license.

MEGASCOOTER, OR MAXISCOOTER

They have the ease of handling of a scooter and the performance of a large displacement engine. If scooters are ideal for driving around town, megacooters are geared towards those who live outside the city and have to move to it on a daily basis. They are also very valid for travel.

MOTOCROSS

Designed to be handled in the field. They have knobby wheels to have more grip and are preferably handled standing up to support the curves. They are exclusively field and must be carried by cart because they are not approved for driving on public roads.

ENDURO

Many enjoy riding their motorcycle on the field, but quietly, without entering competition. The Enduro perfectly fulfills making driving a real pleasure. Enjoying nature, being in contact with the environment, while riding a powerful and manageable motorcycle is a physical exercise that offers multiple satisfactions.

SUPERMOTARD

It is a derivation of the enduro motorcycles that every day have more acceptance. They are designed so that we can have fun both on the asphalt and in the field. The starting point is the Enduro motorcycle, adapted to the asphalt thanks to its wheels, suspensions and brakes.

TRIAL

They are very light motorcycles designed to overcome any obstacle, however impossible it may seem. Everything that is not strictly basic for their function disappears, they do not even have a seat because they constantly handle themselves standing up.

TRAIL

It is an off-road motorcycle designed for the field and the road. This makes it difficult to choose, because the bigger the worse it will go on dirt roads. But if it is small, less protection from the wind on road trips.

NAKED

They are called like this for going "naked": taking the engine into the air and not covered by the traditional fairing. They range from 125 cc to the most powerful 1,000 cc. Unlike other bikes that only look for aesthetics, naked ones do look for speed.

CRUISER

They are emblematic in the United States because they signify freedom. They have a particularly careful design and are bought for a quiet and relaxed driving, just for the pleasure of sitting on them.

Cruiser bikes are often called Custom, even if they are not modified.

CHOPPER

It is characterized by a very long fork and a low seat. It can be based on a motorcycle already produced or created from scratch. Compared to traditional motorcycles, Choppers tend to be lighter, have small tanks, and their windshields, lights, fenders and seats are also smaller.

STREETFIGHTER

They are actually sports bikes adapted to a more comfortable ride, without fairings and with the engine in sight, with wider and higher handlebars to be more comfortable and with a more relaxed riding position. Today they are already a category with its own identity, and are already manufactured in series.

SUPER SPORTS MOTORCYCLES

Super Sports, Superbike or Supersport motorcycles are those based on competition and capable of offering maximum performance, with the best components and the latest technology. They have very powerful engines, excellent braking equipment and a sharp, aggressive and aerodynamic line. Their potential is such that where they are best enjoyed is within a circuit.

MOTORCYCLES SPORT TOURISM

They are those that offer the possibility of maintaining a fast pace, taking advantage of its more sporty side. They are very well faired and with good screens so aerodynamic protection is guaranteed. At the same time, it has a comfortable and relaxed position to travel comfortably.

In addition to very good aerodynamic protection, they come equipped with multiple accessories, usually with huge suitcases and sometimes even with radio or GPS navigators.
